Returns & Refunds Policy

1. Overview
We want you to feel confident shopping with Oh! This Old Thing?. Because we sell vintage and secondhand items, signs of age, wear, and variation may be part of an item’s character and are usually described in the listing.
This policy explains:
when we accept change-of-mind returns
what happens if an item is faulty, damaged, incorrect, or not as described
who pays return shipping in different situations
Nothing in this policy excludes, limits, or modifies any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws.
2. Vintage & Secondhand Condition
Please read each listing carefully and review all photos before purchasing.
As our items are vintage or secondhand, they may show age-related wear, manufacturing variations, or minor imperfections consistent with prior use. These are not necessarily faults.
If an item has notable flaws, damage, repairs, or missing parts, we aim to describe and photograph these as clearly as possible.
3. Change-of-Mind Returns
Unless required by law, we do not accept returns for:
change of mind
finding a similar item elsewhere
deciding the item does not suit your space, style, or taste
ordering by mistake
failing to read the listing details, dimensions, or condition notes
If we choose to approve an exceptional change-of-mind return, it will be at our sole discretion and may be subject to:
the item being returned unused and in the same condition it was sent
the item being returned in suitable protective packaging
return shipping being paid by the customer
original outbound shipping costs being non-refundable
any payment processing or non-recoverable fees being deducted where permitted by law
4. Faulty, Damaged, Incorrect, or Not-as-Described Items
Please contact us if your order:
arrives damaged in transit
is materially different from its description
is not the item you ordered
has a fault not disclosed in the listing
Where required under Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, or other remedy depending on the circumstances and whether the issue is major or minor.
If we made an error, or if the item arrived damaged or faulty in a way that gives rise to a valid claim, we will either:
provide a prepaid return label, or
reimburse reasonable return shipping costs that we approve in advance
Please do not return an item without contacting us first.
5. Timeframe for Reporting Issues
If there is a problem with your order, please contact us as soon as possible.
For damage in transit, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery and include:
clear photos of the item
clear photos of the internal and external packaging
the shipping label
a brief description of the damage
This helps us assess the issue and, where relevant, lodge a carrier claim promptly.
A request made outside 48 hours may still be considered, especially where rights under law apply, but delayed reporting can affect our ability to investigate transit damage.
6. Return Approval Process
To request a return or report a problem, contact us at info@ohthisoldthing.shop with:
your order number
a description of the issue
photos, where relevant
If a return is approved, we will provide instructions for how to send the item back.
Items returned without prior approval may be refused.
7. Refunds
If a refund is approved, it will be processed to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Refunds are usually processed after:
the returned item is received back, or
we have sufficient evidence to approve the claim without requiring return
We do not refund original shipping charges for change-of-mind returns unless required by law.
8. Items Not Eligible for Change-of-Mind Return
Unless required by law, the following are not eligible for change-of-mind return:
items sold as clearance or final sale
gift cards
items that have been used, modified, altered, repaired, or damaged after delivery
items returned without adequate protective packaging
items returned without prior approval
This section does not limit any rights you may have where goods are faulty, damaged, incorrect, or not as described.
9. Damage in Transit Claims
If your item arrives damaged:
notify us within 48 hours of delivery
provide photos of the item, packaging, and shipping label
keep all packaging materials until the matter is resolved
Depending on the circumstances, we may offer a replacement, refund, repair, store credit, or another suitable remedy.
10. Incorrect Addresses, Refused Deliveries & Unclaimed Parcels
If a parcel is returned because:
the shipping address provided was incorrect
delivery was refused
customs charges were not paid
the parcel was not collected
we may offer reshipment at the customer’s cost or a refund less outbound shipping, return shipping, customs charges, handling fees, and any other non-recoverable costs.
11. International Orders
For international orders, customers are responsible for checking local import rules before ordering.
We are not responsible for refunds caused solely by:
import restrictions in the destination country
customs seizure due to local prohibitions
refusal to pay customs duties, VAT, tariffs, brokerage fees, or clearance charges
Where an international parcel is returned to us, any refund may be reduced by outbound shipping, return costs, customs charges, carrier fees, and other non-recoverable costs.
12. EU / EEA Consumers
If you sell to consumers in the European Union or European Economic Area, distance-selling rules may give them a 14-day right of withdrawal for many online purchases, subject to any legal exceptions. If you continue to sell into those markets, this section should be reviewed and expanded to match the destinations you serve.
